Ryanair: There are 'no refunds for operating flights' says O'Leary
Flights and holidays have been a nightmare to organise this year, with plans constantly chopping and changing. Now lockdown is over and the vaccine has arrived, there’s hope the chaos may soon come to an end. These are the latest post-lockdown updates from British Airways, easyJet, TUI, Ryanair and Jet2.
British Airways is keeping its network under constant review. Unlike some other airlines, it has not responded to travel corridor changes by cancelling flights.
The carrier has a confidence commitment in place, meaning travellers have the option to change their booking date and destination or even cancel it completely without incurring a fee, although if rebooking you will need to pay any difference in price (applies to bookings made from March 3, 2020 onwards for journeys that are due to have been completed by August 31, 2021).
If your flight is cancelled, BA will contact you and explain your options.
Most recently, BA announced it is trialling covid tests on select flights from the USA to the UK.
The flag carrier, along with American Airlines and airline alliance Oneworld, has launched an optional COVID-19 medical-based testing trial on selected transatlantic flights to London Heathrow.

Last month, easyJet revealed earlier it made its first annual loss in its 25-year history of £1.27billion.
easyJet is expecting to fly at a maximum of 20 percent capacity in the first quarter of 2021.
The budget airline is committed to “cash generative flying over the winter” and hopes to “ramp up” capacity once demand increase.

The most recent news from the carrier is its changes to hand luggage.
easyJet announced the update earlier in the week, explaining that from February 10, passengers will face fees for cabin bags which need to be stored in the overhead, with charged fees starting at £7.99.
Travellers will only be entitled to one small piece of hand luggage each fitting under the seat in front of them.
Ryanair has not cancelled any flights amid travel corridor changes in recent months.
However, the carrier has dropped flight change fees for all new bookings made for travel before January 31, 2021.
Last month, the airline has announced 24 additional flights from Belgium, France, Greece, Italy, Portugal, Romania, Spain and the UK which will begin on December 17.
TUI has been very quick to respond to travel corridor changes throughout the pandemic.
If a country is not on the ‘safe’ list, TUI will not operate flights or holidays.
A TUI spokeswoman told Express.co.uk: “To remove uncertainty for our customers during the holiday period, TUI UK will not be operating any flights or holidays to destinations without a travel corridor – except for Jamaica – up to and including January 8 2021.
“Jamaica holidays due to depart on or before December 16, 2020, also won’t be operating.
“Impacted customers will be proactively contacted, in departure date order, and offered the option to amend with a booking incentive, receive an ATOL-protected refund credit note with a booking incentive, or cancel and receive a full cash refund.”
Jet2 was also speedy with its responses to the travel corridor and is operating a reduced flying programme. The company is contacting all affected customers in departure date order.
However, Jet2 continues to expand. In November, Jet2.com and Jet2holidays announced four new Greek routes from Newcastle and East Midlands for summer next year.
Meanwhile, the tour operator also revealed the launch of flights and holidays from Bristol Airport in the new year.
Today, Jet2.com and Jet2holidays announced they have refunded over £1billion to customers affected by programme changes since March as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
