Few places in Britain – if any – will return to bed on Wednesday night without their home being battered by strong wind and heavy rain at some point during the day.
Scots living north of Glasgow and Edinburgh can expect to head out today on worryingly slippery surfaces.
"Patchy ice is likely to develop on untreated surfaces with the potential for some wash-off of previously treated surfaces where showers fall," the Met Office states.
It adds that anyone heading out on foot should be wary of suffering injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces.
Elsewhere, an onslaught of heavy rain stretching from Swansea across to Cardiff and down to Plymouth is likely to last until 3pm.

As a result, Brits are reminded on the meteorologist website of the deadly risks carried by driving in seriously wet conditions.
Advice reads: "If the road is flooded, turn around and find another route."
According to the Met Office, the number one cause of death during flooding is driving through flood water.
