A sick killer holed up on Death Row in the US has been executed by lethal injection, two decades after murdering a defenseless elderly couple.
Scott Eizember, 62, was killed with the lethal cocktail at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary in McAlester, Oklahoma, US, this morning (January 12).
In 2003, he killed A.J. Cantrell, 76, and his wife, Patsy Cantrell, 70, after taking them hostage.

He passed away at 10.15am local time (4.15pm GMT), becoming the eighth execution in Oklahoma since the state resumed executions in 2021.
Eizember had spoken to a parole board last month about the sick killings and said that he made "no excuses" for his crimes.
He said: "I make no excuses. I belong in prison. I've said that right from the start, and I apologise profusely to all the victims and when I say all, I mean the entire Creek County community."
The 62-year-old killer had broken into the couple's home to wait for his ex-girlfriend, Kathryn Smith, but ended up taking the Cantrell pair hostage before killing them.

Eizember’s attorneys had argued Patsy Cantrell was shot and killed while he and A.J. Cantrell struggled over the shotgun.
Following the murder of the pair came what is believed to be one of Oklahoma's largest manhunts.
Authorities believe Eizember hid out in wooded areas around the towns of Depew and Bristow for more than 30 days.
Eizember, who was captured in Texas, was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to death for killing A.J.
He was convicted of second-degree murder and sentenced to 150 years in prison for the killing of Patsy.
