An evil husband who was jailed for the brutal murder of his wife has been inundated with “bags of love letters” from sick admirers.

Helicopter pilot Babis Anagnostopoulos murdered his 19-year-old wife Caroline Crouch and attempted to stage the crime scene at their Greek home.

The 34-year-old tied himself up and killed their dog, Roxy. their baby daughter, Lydia, was also found laying by her mother's dead body.

Anagnostopoulos claimed that robbers had suffocated the British-born mum to death, but an investigation discovered he was responcible.

He was sentenced to 27 years in prison for the brutal murder but is attempting to appeal his sentence.

According to The Sun, prison guards have been left "astounded" by the number of women sending “fan mail” sent to the killer.

Officers are having to sort "bags" of letters at the high-security jail in Malandrino.

One guard anonymously told the publication: “We read, as is protocol, all the mail and have been left astounded.

“They are written by women, Greek women, who say they are in love with him.

"They believe he is innocent, that Crouch’s murder wasn’t premeditated and everything happened in the heat of the moment.”

Today (Monday, April 24), Anagnostopoulos was brought to his court of appeal in handcuffs in a bid to have his sentence reduced.

He is arguing that there were “mitigating circumstances” around the murder.

His lawyer, Alexandros Papaioannidis, has previously argued his client is a “model prisoner” who “reads a lot and works in the prison canteen” and should not be punished for a crime “that was never premeditated."

Previous reports claim that Caroline was introduced to Anagnostopoulos on the Greek island of Alonnisos when she was just 15 – and the two wed just three days after she turned 18.

She was subjected to “a long and agonising death,” according to a state coroner who examined her body hours after the incident on May 11, 2021.

The mum of one was pinned down as she slept in the couple's Athens maisonette, and despite attempts to fight back, she was suffocated for five minutes with a pillow.

The appeals hearing which is expected to last months was unexpectedly cut short on Monday as his lawyer, couldn’t represent him because he had been “taken ill and is in hospital.”

The trial was adjourned until May 8.
