Firefighters rush to blaze on posh yacht as plumes seen pouring from boat

A huge fire has broken out on a "posh yacht" located in a harbour in Torquay, Devon.

The incident was confirmed by Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service, after fire crews attended at around 11.57am.

A spokesman said on Twitter: "85ft motorboat on fire. Fire crews called at 11.57am. Liaising with the harbourmaster.

"We currently have 5 fire appliances at #Torquay marina fighting a fire on an 85ft private vessel."

Five fire engines are currently at the scene.

According to Devon Live, a local eyewitness said: "Massive fire near Pavilion I think on Torquay Harbourside."

And road traffic and monitoring service, Inrix said: "A379 Torbay Road in both directions blocked, queueing traffic due to fire services activity from Torquay Harbour to Vaughan Road."

Local councillor Cat Jones tweeted: "A yacht is on fire by Torquay marina it’s like a fire ball!"

There is no indication so far as to what caused the fire or whether or not anyone was on board at the time.
