A four-month drug investigation in Aurora resulted in the seizure of more than 80,000 pills laced with fentanyl.
On Dec. 29, police investigators searched a home and two vehicles in the 20500 block of East Buchanan Drive, according to a news release, seizing 8.3 kilograms of fentanyl-laced counterfeit oxycodone pills along with 500 grams of suspected Xanax and $1,884 in cash. The estimated street value of the pills is more than $200,000.
An investigation was launched in September when police received information about illicit drugs being advertised for sale on social media platforms. A suspect has been arrested in the case.
“We have documented cases throughout the state of people overdosing on just one pill of Fentanyl,” Aurora police Cmdr. Kevin Barnesstated in the release. “By arresting (the suspect) and removing this poison from our streets, our investigators have effectively saved as many as 80,000 lives.”
