Iran is plotting to assassinate or capture Donald Trump and his former secretary of state Mike Pompeo, a leaked US government intelligence report revealed.
The Middle Eastern nation hatched the plot following the death of powerful Iranian commander Major General Qassim Soleimani from an American drone strike two years ago.
The shocking conspiracy was disclosed in the latest National Counterterrorism Centre report, which claimed Iran is "waging a multi-pronged campaign against select US officials" including lethal threats, legal maneuvering, and the issuance of Iranian sanctions and arrest warrants.

Commander Soleimani was one of the most powerful military leaders in the Middle East before his death, with his legacy including conspiring in the Russian military intervention in Syria and assisting the Hezbollah militant group in Lebanon.
He was killed in a drone strike near Baghdad airport on a visit to Iraq in January 2020, at the hands of the US.
"Since January 2021, Tehran has publicly expressed a willingness to conduct lethal operations inside the United States and has consistently identified former President Donald Trump, former secretary of state Michael Pompeo, and former General Kenneth McKenzie as among its priority targets for retribution," read the report, according to Yahoo News.
The report also explained Iran would likely view the killing or prosecution of a high-profile US official like former president Trump as equivalent to Soleimani "or responsible for his death as successful retaliatory actions."
According to Yahoo News, the terrifying report is marked with "Not for Public Release" and "For Official Use Only."

The shock findings come in the midst US President Joe Biden's vast tour of the Middle East in a bid to strengthen ties with the region.
On his first trip to the Middle East as president, he said to Israeli broadcaster N12 that he wouldn't stop short of using military force against Iran to stop its regime from acquiring nuclear weapons.
He said: "The only thing worse than the Iran that exists now is an Iran with nuclear weapons."
Biden's tour comes amid fears the Iran Nuclear deal talks may collapse, and the president says he still hopes to revive the nuclear deal.
Spokespeople for Mr Trump, Mr Pompeo and Gen McKenzie did not reply to requests for comment from Yahoo News, who obtained the report, nor did the US Secret Service.
