Police have released the chilling moment an evil killer casually confessed to murdering a mum and three children.

Damien Bendall dialled 999 for emergency services to arrive at an address in Killamarsh, Derbyshire, where he calmly admitted to committing a bloody massacre.

The bodies of Bendall's pregnant girlfriend Terri Harris, 35, John Paul Bennett, 13, Lacey Bennett, 11, and Connie Gent, 11, were discovered on September 19 last year after Bendall told officers what to expect.

At Derby Crown Court on Wednesday, December 21, Bendall was sentenced to a whole life order behind bars for murder and raping one of his child victims.

Andrew Baxter, from the CPS said: “It is hard to put into words the scale of Damien Bendall’s barbaric and horrifying actions. He went through the house looking for the victims until he had killed them all, raping one of the children in the attack.

"What he did left two families utterly devastated by grief and a community in bewilderment and shock."

The quadruple killer raped Lacey as she lay dying and all four tragic victims had their skulls 'smashed in' with a claw hammer.

Police body cam footage of Bendall's arrest reveal how disturbingly relaxed the killer was as he waited for officers in a coat, covering his own bloody knife wounds.

In his initial call to the 999 operator, Bendall said: "Erm basically yeah I need the police and ambulance here now because I've killed four people."

At the scene he uttered "I don't know what happened" before confirming he was unarmed and explained that he'd stabbed himself "four inches with a bread knife and one on the stomach".

Having walked around the side of the home for privacy, Bendall interrupted an officer to say: "I know what's going to happen. I'm going to prison obviously. Again."

He then removed his coat to reveal his bloodied Chelsea football shirt.

A hint of Bendall's depravity even before last year's bloodshed was revealed in court where jurors were told how he had stolen Terri's son John's Xbox for drugs.

Detective Inspector Mark Shaw who helped lead the investigation said: “The level of force and violence which was used in these attacks show they were carried out with one intention, and that was to take the lives of Terri, John-Paul, Lacey and Connie.

“They had all, by the nature of their relationship, come to trust Bendall and he took the opportunity to shatter that trust and carry out the horrendous acts.

"The force and weapon he used would have meant they were very quickly left them incapacitated.

“It is also impossible to comprehend the nature of the further attack on Lacey for all those involved. The families of each victim have had to endure more 15 months of unimaginable distress and anxiety, but at least today they will have some reassurance that Bendall will not be able to cause more harm.

“As an investigation team we have nothing but admiration for the way in which the families have conducted themselves, from helping the team with our enquiries through to having to relive the events through the court process. I personally would like to thank them for that.”
