Man brutally beaten to death after he took single guava fruit from orchard

A man was beaten to death by fuming orchard guards after he picked up a single guava fruit from the floor on his way back from the forest, reports say.

The tragic victim, who was in his 20s and named locally as Om Prakash, was allegedly attacked with sticks until he blacked out after he was spotted holding the exotic fruit.

Cops in Uttar Pradesh's Aligarh district have arrested two men over the reported killing after his devastated brother tried in vain to save his life.

Distraught Sant Prakash explained: "They hit my brother with a stick mercilessly. He became unconscious…

“They thrashed him brutally with lathis and other heavy objects until he lost consciousness. There were innumerable marks on his body.

“I brought him back, but it was too late. The two men have kept the stick hanging on the tree. I want justice.”

Police officers confirmed the victim was found lying unconscious and said that despite racing him to hospital, he died from his injuries.

They added that after receiving reports of a fight in the Aligarh village, they sent men immediately.

A spokesperson said: “On receiving information that a man was injured, police reached the spot and sent the victim to hospital. He died during treatment.

“Two people have been arrested on the basis of the complaint filed by relatives. Probe on.”

The body will now be sent off for a post-mortem as part of the ongoing investigation.

Unfortunately, it’s not the first time someone has been beaten to death for a rather odd reason in the country.

Last year, a man and his three-year-old son were beaten to death by their own family members during an exorcism.

The shocking incident happened in Thikriya, in India's Andhra Pradesh region, where cops found a 19-year-old girl sitting on top of the child and beating him with utensils "in a frenzy" after claims he was possessed by evil spirits.
