A man provided secret recordings that uncovered his girlfriend’s plot to kill her former husband after she told him about her evil plans as she lay in his arms after sex.
Graham Wall said Victoria Breeden, 39, wanted Rob Parkes, 40, dead so that she could get custody of their daughter.
This week Breeden, of Cambridgeshire, was found guilty of three counts of soliciting murder and cleared of another.
Graham, 45, said that as he and Breeden lay in bed after making love one night, she had begun to cry. Concerned, he asked: “Why are you crying, didn’t you enjoy it?”
Breeden replied: “Yes I did, that’s the problem, I’m happy but my [daughter] is not. You must know somebody. You must know somebody who can get rid of him.”
Graham says Breedan had labelled him "of no use to her” if he couldn't find someone to conduct the killing.

Graham dismissed it, thinking she was not serious.
But as his suspicions grew, he later uncovered bundles of evidence that proved she was, in fact, deadly serious.
He took it all to the police and this week mother-of-three Breeden was convicted on three counts of soliciting murder.
After the verdicts were read out, Graham left Chelmsford Crown Court in tears and now says he still loves the woman who could be jailed for life for a crime which he reported.
He told the Mirror : “We had some great times together, I truly loved her and I still miss her now.

“When you genuinely love someone it is very difficult to stop that love irrespective of what they have done.
"But now I’m wondering if she ever really loved me at all or saw me as an opportunity, a feeble-minded man who she could manipulate.”
Graham met ex-children’s nursery worker Breeden in October 2018 after spotting her profile on dating app, Badoo.
Within hours of exchanging messages they were talking at length on the phone.
The following day they went on a date to Wells-next-the-Sea beach in Norfolk.
Dad-of-one Graham said: “She seemed very charming and outgoing, with a good sense of humour. I fell for her straight away, it felt like we had known each other for a long time.”

Within weeks, train driver Graham and Breeden were inseparable and she moved into his flat in Peterborough, Cambs.
A short time later Breeden told him how she had lost custody of two of her three children, blaming university sweetheart Rob for the court’s decision to take away custody of her daughter.
Graham said: “Victoria made serious allegations, saying he was a bad man, influential and in with all the authorities.
“I was shocked and she was fearful I was going to walk away from her. But I cared for her too much, and told her, ‘I think I’m falling in love with you.’”

In time Graham began to see a darker side to Breeden, a talented musician who can play five instruments. He said: “She tried to control me psychologically and would guilt trip me into doing what she wanted.”
Breeden, whose only income was disability benefits for mobility issues, told Graham she was skint.
But while working on her house in Littleport, Cambs, he found a stash of cash. He said: “I opened a drawer and saw two SMA milk formula tins.”
Inside were “wads and wads of 20, 10 and five-pound notes”.

He said: “They were all in £1,000 bundles and I counted over 23 bundles.”
It proved to be vital evidence in Breeden’s trial. The jury heard that the stash proved her £5,000 offers to find a hitman were deadly serious.
It was around this time that Breeden asked Graham to find someone to kill Rob. He dismissed the comment as an “off-the-cuff” remark and suggested she should fight for custody of her daughter through the courts.
But six months later she made a similar threat against Rob, saying: “It would be better if he wasn’t here, then I would get her back.”
It was around this time, in August last year, that Graham thought he heard someone in the background while on the phone to Breeden and saw a strange car parked outside her house.

His suspicions that she was cheating on him led him to leave his mobile recording on a shelf at her home last October.
When he replayed the audio, he heard a three-hour conversation between Breeden and Earl Gernon, who she had met on a dating website.
She was asking him to kill Rob. Graham said: “Initially, I thought she was planning to kill me, but a few minutes later it became clear it was Rob she was trying to get rid of.”
Graham confronted her, but when Breeden refused to discuss the recording, he took it to the police. He said: “I was fearful for myself and Rob.
“What I heard on that tape broke me inside. I knew telling the police was the right thing to do but after making the report I felt so guilty. It broke my heart because I knew I was never going to see Victoria again.”
Detectives found Breeden had been trying to have Rob killed for five years, and in 2014 had offered friend Hamish Lowry-Martin £5,000 to find a hitman.
Breeden faces a substantial jail term when she is sentenced next month.
Graham said: “I don’t want her to go to prison, but it’s the right thing.
“If I hadn’t caught her out she would have gone through with the murder, there’s no doubt about it.”
