Meghan Markle says she can finally "speak for herself" after leaving the Royal Family in a new clip from her Oprah Winfrey interview.
The Duchess of Sussex said she was giving the interview as her and husband Prince Harry can now make their "own choices".
She added that she was banned from having an interview with Oprah previously when she was in the Royal Family.
In an excerpt from the interview, airing on CBS on Sunday (March 7), Oprah says: "I just want to say that I called you either in Feb or March 2018 before the wedding, asking 'would you please give me an interview?' and you said 'I'm sorry it's not the right time'.
"Finally we get to sit down and have this conversation."
The former Suits actress responds: "I remember that, I wasn't even allowed to have that conversation with you personally, right. There had to be people from the comm, sitting there, everything was …even on call."
Oprah says she was "turned down nicely", adding Meghan told her "perhaps there would be another time".
Meghan adds: "Well so many things that were on the other side of a lot of – a lot of life exp that has happened.
"And also the ability to make our own choices in a way that I couldn't have said yes to to you then.
In the first trailer released earlier this week, Harry said his “biggest concern was history repeating itself”, in reference to his late mother Princess Diana.
Meghan was sat beside holding his hand throughout the clip and did not speak.
But a second video shared yesterday (March 4) showed the Duchess of Sussex launching a scathing attack on the Royal Family.
She claimed The Firm “perpetuated falsehoods” and said she had no fear in speaking out as she had “already lost a lot already”.
Body language expert Judi James analysed the clip for Daily Star and said the former Suits actress showed “calm authority” as she made the bombshell claims.
Buckingham Palace has declined to comment on Meghan's claims they “perpetuated falsehoods”.
