A doctor was arrested on suspicion of keeping a patient in a 'prison' in a private hospital after a botched tummy tuck, in the latest plastic surgery scandal to rock Brazil.
Police had to go to the hospital in Baixada Fluminense, Rio de Janeiro, to rescue the victim, and also arrested plastic surgeon Bolívar Guerrero Silva, Diario do Nordeste reported.
The patient's relatives told police that she had been held in false imprisonment for almost two months, since an abdominoplasty went wrong.

In a statement, the hospital said that the accusations are "baseless" and that Bolivar is not a member of the unit.
The team that works with the plastic surgeon claims that they agreed to release the patient as long as she signed a document taking responsibility for any problems arising because of the procedure after release.
The patient underwent a tummy tuck in early March and, according to relatives, the surgery had complications to the point that the victim's belly had become necrotic.
Necrosis is the death of body tissue that occurs when too little blood flows to the tissue, which can lead to gangrene.
In June, she returned to the hospital to undergo three more procedures to correct complications.
