Vladimir Putin’s former vaccine chief, who allegedly knows the Russian dictator’s medical secrets, has gone missing.

Viktor Trukhin, 59, has been missing for at least five days as cops embark on a manhunt to find Putin’s top doctor.

He formerly headed up the St Petersburg Research Institute of Vaccines and Serums, serving as its director for 11 years.

Trukhin was fired from his latest job for his alleged involvement in a large-scale fraud scandal, prompting speculation about his sudden disappearance.

His daughter reportedly last saw him on September 3, just one day before the Federal Medical Biological Agency (FMBA) let him go.

His daughter reportedly last saw him on September 3, just one day before the Federal Medical Biological Agency (FMBA) let him go.

In a goodbye letter to staff, he wrote: “We have created an enterprise that is unique for our country, but its complexity is precisely the Achilles heel that can affect the future in the most unexpected way.

“I hope this will not happen, and the institute will retain its unique competencies and specialists who today constitute its essence and spirit.”

Trukhin’s WhatsApp and Telegram apps were opened for a brief period on September 5, but he has not been in touch, according to claims.

According to the FMBA, Russian law enforcement agencies have received a dossier alleging he had been involved in fraud, which they verified after received corruption claims.

Speaking to Russian news outlet Fotanka, his daughter Sophie said it is highly unlike her father to go missing like this.

She said: “But this is not a fighter who gives up and can leave his homeland.

“The dismissal was so unexpected for his team that they recorded a huge video about how shocked they were and how good it was to work with him for these decades.

“My father is not the kind of person who disappears of his own free will.”

Meanwhile, rumours that Putin is seriously ill with cancer have exploded over the last year.

Christopher Steele, who ran the Russia desk at MI6 in London between 2006 and 2009, has previously claimed that “very credible sources are telling us he’s been ill for some time”.

The General SVR Telegram channel has also repeatedly claimed that Putin is in poor health and even permanently relies on a doppelgänger to stand in for his public appearances.

Trukhin is alleged to know about all of Putin’s health issues, according to a report in The Sun.

The Russian leader has been afflicted by several health issues in the last 12 months, according to various sources from the Kremlin.

They range from small ailments such as temporarily blurred vision to greater concerns such as nervous breakdowns.

The first health claims post-invasion came early in 2022 when it was said that Putin was suffering from cancer.

But the Kremlin has denied allegations that Putin is sick, with Dmitri Peskov calling these reports and suggestions “fabrication(s) and untruth(s)”.
