Woman 33, accused of trying to castrate her five-year-old adopted stepson

A woman has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly attempting to castrate her five-year-old stepson.

Bracey Renee Byrd, 33, of Wilson, North Carolina is facing several more charges relating to the alleged abuse of the young child, who is her adopted stepson according to reports from WNCT-TV, citing police.

In July earlier this year, Wilson County Sheriff’s Office received a referral from the Wilson County Department of Social Services which was when the investigation of abuse had begun.

Police officials said that the child was transported to hospital after suffering severe burns on his body alongside several other injuries that were discovered upon examining him.

According to Wilson sheriff officials, the five-year-old boy had suffered bruising to his face, arms, head, legs, back and genital area.

Alongside her attempted murder charge, Byrd faces a litany of charges including counts of felony child abuse inflicting serious bodily injury, malicious castration and first-degree kidnapping.

The 33-year-old is also facing three additional charges of felony child abuse with physical injury and after being arrested on September 30, Byrd is in currently in jail on a $2million (£1.7million) bond.

The chilling news of this story comes after a man allegedly sold his 10-year-old daughter to his friend for sexual services.

The father, 45, has been remanded in custody in Malaysia and was only caught after the girl had told her teacher about her situation.

Both men were arrested with the case now being investigated under the Malaysian laws Section 31(1)(b) of the Child Act 2001 for child neglect and abandonment and Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape.
