Woman stuffed dead girl, 12, in suitcase and left it at cafe to buy croissant

A woman who allegedly dumped the dead body of a girl, 12, in a suitcase went to buy a croissant as she was lugging the corpse around, it is claimed.

The suitcase containing the dead girl, identified only as Lola, was discovered close to her building in Paris at around 11.30pm on Friday (October 14).

Her parents reported her missing earlier in the day after she failed to return home from school.

Detailing her terrifying injuries, police said Lola was found inside the suitcase hogtied, with her throat slit and sellotape across her face.

The suspect is now being held by police.

A witness has revealed that she saw the woman walking around with what looked to be a heavy suitcase before stopping to grab a snack from a bakery.

"We saw her entering the building, she was alone, and she came out a little later. We saw her half an hour later with the suitcase, she was speaking to everyone, she looked a little crazy," the witness told BFMTV.

"She was struggling to carry the suitcase, we thought it was because it was heavy items and she was quite slim – we never thought it was a body.

"It was 5pm and she was walking around with that suitcase, she even left it outside a café and went to the bakery opposite to buy a croissant as if nothing had happened."

Another witness said she asked for help carrying a heavy suitcase to a car.

Yesterday (Saturday, October 15) it was revealed that the numbers "1" and "0" were mysteriously left on the body.

According to BFMTV, the numbers were "placed" on her body rather than scraped or drawn on.

A post-mortem revealed that Lola had died from asphyxia, according to the AFP.

Lola's mum Delphine described her as a smiley blonde girl with shoulder-length hair.

Lola's father, who is a caretaker for the building where she disappeared from, allegedly told police he'd seen her with a woman in her twenties at around 3.20pm on the building's CCTV.

He said he didn't know the woman.

The CCTV showed Lola entering the building but she never made it home, a source close to the case is quoted as saying by L'Avenir.

A homeless man contacted police after finding her body under fabrics in the suitcase just a few streets away from where she vanished.

The public prosecutor's office confirmed traces of struggle, as well as sellotape and a box cutter, where found in the third basement of the girl's building.

The office said six people have been arrested so far. They include the woman and the homeless man.

BFMTV reported that the man is not a suspect in the case.
