Three elderly people tragically died after being struck by a Russian shell, claim Ukranian officials.<\/p>\n
Russian artillery reportedly fired near the eastern Ukranian city of Lyman. Two people are also said to have been wounded in the strikes, which targeted the villages of Torske and Zakitne.<\/p>\n
The three people who were reportedly killed – two women and a man aged 63 to 88 – were said to be sitting on a bench in Torske when the shilling hit. The area is close to the front line and regularly comes under attack, reports the BBC.<\/p>\n
There have also been reports of explosions overnight in the port city of Sevastopol. It is based in the Russian-occupied Crimea.<\/p>\n
READ MORE: <\/strong> Ukraine liberates another key checkpoint in counteroffensive win<\/strong><\/p>\n The Crimean peninsula’s Russian-appointed “proxy governor” claims the fleet was conducting a firing exercise.<\/p>\n Writing on Telegram, the head of Ukraine’s Donetsk region Pavlo Kyrylenko, said: “Three people were killed and one wounded in Torske, another civilian was wounded in Zakitne.”<\/p>\n Torske was attacked at 6.450pm local time (3.30pm GMT) with Zakitne hit half an hour later, the Donetsk regional prosecutor’s office said on Facebook. They also said one person in Torske suffered serious injuries to their chest, shoulder, and hip.<\/p>\n The prosecutor’s office also said a 26-year-old man suffered a fractured skull and a concussion in Zakitne.
