Jamila Robinson, a top editor at The Philadelphia Inquirer, will be the next editor in chief of the food magazine Bon App\u00e9tit.<\/p>\n
Cond\u00e9 Nast, the publisher of Bon App\u00e9tit and titles like Vogue and Vanity Fair, announced on Monday that in her new role, Ms. Robinson would be in charge of all content and strategy for Bon App\u00e9tit and the recipe website Epicurious.<\/p>\n
Ms. Robinson is the assistant managing editor for food and culture at The Inquirer, which she joined in 2020. She was previously an editorial director at Atlantic Media and has also worked at the USA Today Network, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and The Detroit Free Press. Ms. Robinson recently served as chair of the James Beard Foundation\u2019s Journalism Awards Committee and is a chair for the World\u2019s 50 Best Restaurants annual list.<\/p>\n
Anna Wintour, Cond\u00e9 Nast\u2019s chief content officer and global editorial director of Vogue, described Ms. Robinson in a statement as \u201ca community builder and a major editorial talent,\u201d as well as \u201can absolute star in the kitchen.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ms. Robinson said in a statement on Monday that she was thrilled to join Bon Appe\u0301tit and Epicurious.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor me, food is an art form that intersects with every part of life and connects communities,\u201d she said. \u201cThis role is an exciting new chapter in my commitment to building a longer table and showing the world that food culture is for everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ms. Robinson replaces Dawn Davis, a veteran of the book publishing world who in 2020 was tapped to take the reins at Bon App\u00e9tit as it grappled with criticisms of the treatment of people of color who worked there. The publication\u2019s longtime editor Adam Rapoport resigned abruptly in June 2020, after an old photo resurfaced online showing him dressed in a racially insensitive costume.<\/p>\n
Ms. Davis announced several months ago that she would be leaving Bon App\u00e9tit to rejoin Simon & Schuster.<\/p>\n
Ms. Robinson will start in the role on Sept. 18.<\/p>\n
