Britain's most unwanted dog is desperate to find a forever home after spending all his 650 days in kennels.

Lonely Zen was born behind bars in December 2021 when Boris Johnson was PM and Vladimir Putin had not invaded Ukraine. Since then no-one has shown any interest in adopting the brown and white lurcher cross-breed – though kennel staff adore him.

They even changed his name in a bid to make him more attractive to potential owners. Zen’s mum was part of an RSPCA cruelty case.

The 21-month-old was then raised by the animal charity at its Blackberry Farm centre in Aylesbury, Bucks. Centre manager Julie Allen said: “Poor Zen, we can’t understand why such a beautiful happy little boy has not found his perfect home yet.

“It breaks our hearts when we see him in our kennels and the days and weeks go by but he still gets overlooked. We know that somewhere out there there will be a family who would be the perfect fit for Zen.

“While we all love him and he’s such a pleasure to be around, him going off to his perfect new home is the ending we all want for him. We are urging people to consider adopting Zen or if not please share his story far and wide so that we can help find his new family.''

Zen is described as being “full of beans and love”, “very affectionate” and known to like a “good cuddle”. An RSPCA spokesman said: “This lovely boy has never experienced a home of his own and has spent his entire life living in kennels.
