<\/p>\nIntense footage from the frontline in\u00a0Ukraine shows a Russian tank being wiped out by a pinpoint drone strike as fighting continues.<\/p>\n
The short clip follows the explosive device as it moves through the sky before obliterating the armor in Avdiivka – a city in Russian-occupied Donetsk Oblast.<\/p>\n
The successful Ukrainian strike comes as part of a wider effort to defend eastern Ukraine.<\/p>\n
Senior military sources from Kyiv have said this week that Russia is intensifying its efforts near the city.<\/p>\n
Ukraine\u2019s commander-in-chief Valery Zaluzhnyi said: “The enemy is not relenting in attempts to break through our defenses and surround (Avdiivka).”<\/p>\n

He added: “The enemy is actively bringing in assault units and large amounts of armored equipment and using aircraft and artillery.”<\/p>\n
Ukrainian troops have faced constant Russian attacks on Avdiivka.<\/p>\n
The city is located around 12 miles west of Russian-occupied Donetsk, an area that has seen brutal fighting since 2014.<\/p>\n
Ukraine’s counteroffensive has not achieved what many in the country hoped it would, but in Russia, many still fear what Kyiv’s soldiers could do in the south.<\/p>\n

Russian sources have expressed “pronounced concern” about ongoing Ukrainian activity in Kherson, southern Ukraine, according to the Institute for the Study of War.<\/p>\n
The think tank says “It is noteworthy that prominent and generally reliable Russian sources are discussing Ukrainian activities on the east bank as occurring at a larger scale than previously documented”.<\/p>\n
President Joe Biden provided Ukraine with a big boost on Thursday as he submitted a $106bn request to Congress for military and humanitarian aid which will also be used to help Israel.<\/p>\n
In his national address on Thursday, Mr Biden said the US is a “beacon to the world\u201d as he urged Republicans to back his plan.<\/p>\n
He added: \u201cHistory has taught us that when terrorists don\u2019t pay a price for their terror, when dictators don\u2019t pay a price for their aggression, they cause more chaos and death and more destruction,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey keep going and the costs and the threats to America and the world keep rising.\u201d<\/p>\n
