If the weather’s wet and windy, there’s no better activity than spending the afternoon treasure hunting through the shops and boutiques on Brighton Lanes.

From antiques to vintage clothing, the Lanes are the perfect place for some last-minute Christmas shopping. If nothing catches the eye, hunker down in a cafe for a hot chocolate or mulled wine.

If the skies are clear, wander along the promenade for a bracing beach walk and look out for the former pier which still stands despite the fire.
