France’s second most populated city is gripped by a chronic crime wave that as seen Marseille be considered the most dangerous city in Europe.<\/p>\n

Notorious for gangs and smuggling for much of its history, the southern port city has long been viewed by their northern countrymen with suspicion.<\/p>\n

Recently gang violence has worsened reaching unprecedented levels of ferocity with near daily gun attacks.<\/p>\n

In total, the number of fatal shootings in Marseille so far this year already surpassed the total for the entire of 2022.<\/p>\n

In the past two years, the interior ministry has sent more than 200 extra police officers to Marseille in an effort to quell the recurring violence<\/p>\n

However, the killings continue unabatedly, with residents feeling increasingly abandoned.<\/p>\n

Since the beginning of the year, the city has seen 68 shootings, 31 of which resulted in deaths according to the Marseille Police Department.<\/p>\n

The vast majority of clashes have been blamed on Marseille’s two main rival gangs ‘DZ Mafia’ and ‘Yoda’.<\/p>\n

The killings have even spawned a shocking social media trend where teenagers hired as contract killers by warring drug bosses brazenly broadcast their crimes on social media sites like Snapchat, Instagram, and TikTok.<\/p>\n
