A distressed mother believes she is being stalked in her dreams by the ghost of serial predator Jimmy Savile.

And Lizzy Groves, who as a youngster met the monster on Top Of The Pops, said the former BBC star leaves a trail of cigar smoke every time it happens “like he’s marking his territory”.

The 57-year-old told the Daily Star Sunday that she has been plagued by repeated nightmares where she is pursued by the paedophile monster who calls her “the one that got away”.

She said, “I’m a very sane, logical woman and I’d have put all this down to a run of bad dreams except for the cigar smoke.”

Brixton-born former barmaid Lizzy said, “All of October, I have had horrible nightmares where Savile is chasing me down a BBC corridor, and even one where he’s chasing me around my bedroom.

“I wake up from them shaking. What makes it even scarier is that I could still smell his cigar smoke every time.

“I thought I was going mad so I went and got my daughter and asked ‘Can you smell something in my bedroom?’ and she said ‘Yes, cigar smoke’. Neither of us smoke.

“It was like the spirit was marking his territory.”

Mum-of-one Lizzy explained, “When I was young, I used to get into Top Of The Pops under-age – a few of us did. I was a big fan of Madness and Mod bands like the Chords, so I went three or four times.

“One time Jimmy Savile was the presenter and invited a few of us back to his dressing room, but me and my friend Sarah didn’t go because he seemed creepy to us.

“There was something unsettling about him. I couldn’t put my finger on it back then, but it makes sense now.”

Lizzy believes the BBC1 four-part drama series The Reckoning has awakened suppressed memories and somehow opened up “a psychic wormhole” so the evil former DJ can pursue her in her darkest dreams.

She went on, “I think The Reckoning on TV has tipped me over the edge. It brought back suppressed memories. I can’t watch Steve Coogan anymore and I was a huge Alan Partridge fan.

“In one of the nightmares Savile even gets his clammy hand on my leg but I manage to kick it away.

“That was really terrifying. It made me wonder what would happen if he managed to get hold of me in my sleep. What would the ghost do? Would I ever wake up again?

“It left me in tears. I am thinking of calling in a church exorcist to drive his evil spirit away.”

Leeds-born Savile, who died twelve years ago last month aged 84, managed to conceal his depraved activities during his lifetime as he hosted TV shows such as Jim’ll Fix It.

He was knighted and awarded a papal knighthood, and befriended by a host of prominent people including the then Prince Charles and several former Prime Ministers.

After his death, hundreds of allegations of sexual abuse made against him were investigated by the police concluded that Savile he had been a prolific predatory sex offender, arguably Britain’s worst.

The Reckoning, which concluded last month, has been criticised for giving the BBC “an easy ride” for their role in his rise to stardom.
