A new first class airline cabin has been revealed that boasts incredible double beds in an exclusive suite on board planes that offer it. Japan Airline’s incredible new cabins have us dreaming of a day we might be able to turn left upon boarding.
The new suite was shown off as part of the air carrier’s new interiors on its Airbus A350-1000. The new planes will soon be the airline’s flagship carriers for international service – so any Brits heading to Japan could enjoy their flight onboard.
The aircraft is set to launch on the Tokyo and New York route before the end of 2023. The gorgeous new first class cabin is perhaps the most impressive offering of the new carrier though both first and business class offer "spacious yet fully private environments".

Images of the first class Cabin show a spacious cabin with a bench-like seat that can be transformed into a lie-flat single or double bed or a half seat half bed configuration. A large TV is mounted on the wall and there’s also a desk which will be handy for those who want to do work on-board. The walls of the cabin stretch up offering full privacy and there’s also a door which can be slid open or closed. A built in stereo system lets you enjoy the entertainment without needing headphones as it will play out of the headrest.
Each plane will carry six of the luxury suites which offer a "stress-free environment" that looks like a "luxury hotel room". Coats and jackets can be hung up in the private wardrobe which also has a shoe cupboard. Underneath the end of the bed is storage space large enough for two suitcases so you don’t need to worry about finding space in the overhead lockers. The first class suites are perfect for those who want the ultimate luxury experience on their flight.
But, for those who can’t quite stretch to that price – let’s be honest, most of us – the airline also has new business class seats. They have privacy doors too and you’ll feel like you’re in your own private, small pod.
The seat adjusts so you can lie flat for a great sleep in the skies and there are electric privacy partitions – that means you can put it down to chat to your travelling companions or put them up if you don’t know your neighbour.
The bed mode has enough space for anyone of 198cm to lie down and there’s "ample" foot space so your knees won’t be smacking into the person in front of you even if you’re tall. Japan Airlines said that business class offers a "comfortable sleeping experience with cushioning structures that evenly distribute body pressure". There is also a small wardrobe for clothes and the same built in stereo system.
Passengers who book a seat in business or first class will also be treated to complimentary pyjamas and a new amenity kit filled with luxury lifestyle products – the kit is designed by the Japanese lifestyle brand Heralbony.
But, for those of us who will only ever fly economy – the majority of holidaymakers – there are some exciting new additions to the economy and premium economy spaces too. The seats will feature electric reclining seats and privacy partitions for "enhanced individual space" in premium economy. While the new economy seats offer "enhanced" leg room and has the "13in 4K monitor in its class". Japan Airlines has already won the "best economy seat" prize in the Skytrax Awards so it’s likely to be a cut above the rest for passengers.
