Families demand refund after UK firework display behind ‘wall of smoke’

Fireworks enthusiasts arrived in huge numbers for one of the biggest displays in the country, only to be left bitterly disappointed with what they described as a 'total disaster' and just a 'wall of smoke'.

Every year, Birmingham hosts Edgbaston Stadium's Fireworks Spectacular, with the event managers promising 'breathtaking fireworks'.

Therefore, with a great sense of anticipation in the air, the locals excitedly rocked up for an unforgettable experience. And they got that, but unfortunately, for all the wrong reasons.

Disappointed customers desperately attempted to catch a glimpse of the fireworks, only for them to be covered by a wall of smoke. Unfortunately, this resulted in families getting up from the stands and leaving the event early.

Frustrated with the end product, Edgbaston Stadium faced the music, releasing a statement in which they claimed they'd get in contact with anyone who bought tickets.

The sports venue wrote: "Due to the atmospheric conditions and unfortunate weather conditions we know that our fireworks display was impacted. We are currently investigating the issues that occurred, and we will communicate with all ticket purchasers in due course."

As per BirminghamLive, furious with how their evening turned out, many turned to Facebook to vent their anger. One responded to the post by writing: "Nothing to do with the weather. "

The individual added: "On a clear summer's night there still would've been a ridiculous amount of smoke and we still wouldn't have been able to see anything. Hold your hands up, apologise on behalf of whoever's error it was and get the refund ball rolling. There are a lot of unhappy customers. It's not a cheap night out either for a family. Please do the right thing."

Another said: " Something wasn't right with the fireworks, way too much smoke in the first minute and half! Total disaster. It was awful, worst fireworks display I've ever been to."

A third, describing the whole display as, "just a wall of smoke', said: "Really enjoyed previous years, but tonight lacked sparkle and the view."

Clearly upset with how the night worked out, a fourth user wrote: "We came to your display last year and it was amazing. Sadly tonight was a big disappointment. You couldn't see a thing. You could no longer see any of the other stands, let alone the fireworks. My daughter started crying because she was scared of all the smoke. The weather and atmosphere can't be helped, but it definitely felt chaotic."
