Rampaging digger driver destroys Mucky Duck pub in terrifying midnight attack

A Grade II listed pub has been destroyed by someone in a stolen digger. The late night attack was captured on CCTV and caused £200,000 worth of damage.

Shocking footage from Wednesday night (September 27) shows a Manitou farm telehandler vehicle race through the garden of The Mucky Duck in Nottinghamshire before smashing into the building.

The vehicle then repeatedly hit the 18th century inn's brickwork and windows. Tables and chairs were crushed under its wheels. The attack last for around a minute.

Owner Steve Bolland explained that a neighbour rang him up when the attack was taking place. Steve said: "It was absolutely horrible. It's a grade two listed building, and every window in the building was targeted. As it's built from the brick, the brick just crumbled."

"I've no idea who it was. I've been wracking my brains. But I've not been able to put a finger on anybody."

The pub took to social media to say it would have to close while police conduct their inquiries. The post read in part: "Unfortunately we are going to have to close until further notice due to someone deliberately causing serious damage to the building with a stolen teleporter. Don't worry, they will not stop us from getting back open.

"We are going to work as hard as we can to get back open as soon as possible and when we have a date for this we will be sure to let you all know."

Police have said those responsible did not try to enter the building, instead fleeing on foot after causing the damage. The vehicle had been stolen from an address roughly 2.5 miles away.

Nottinghamshire Police are now examining CCTV and carrying out local enquiries. The force has asked anyone with information to come forward.

Detective Sergeant Jackie Price said: "We are at the very early stages of our investigation, but want to hear from anyone with information, CCTV or dash-cam footage which could help with our inquiries. The raid has caused a considerable amount of damage to a well-known business and local landmark. We are determined to track down those responsible."
