A rapper who said he knew the whole Bible off by heart quoted his favourite verse – which was from Winston Churchill.

Speaking to podcaster James English in a now-deleted interview, the 28-year-old convicted armed robber explained how he had turned his back on his life of crime and has found God.

“There's nothing you can ask me about The Bible,” he boasted. “That's not showing off, I’d like you to do that… anything anything you could think of.” Put on the spot, James couldn’t think of a good scripture question and just asked the robber-turned-rapper what his favourite Bible verse was.

Jordan confidently replied: “If you stop at every dog that barks, you'll never reach your destination. That's my favourite verse because it's basically about you don't stop at every dog that barks because if you do, you’ll never reach your destination.”

It’s undoubtedly sound philosophical advice. But unlike many popular proverbs and sayings it’s not actually from the King James Bible. In fact, it's not religious at all and instead comes from Britain's wartime leader Winston Churchill.

The actual quote is: “You will never reach your destination if you stop and throw stones at every dog that barks.”

Footage of the blunder has been doing the rounds on social media, where X users were quick to mock him. “The explanation is incredible,” one commented while another pointed out “he says the Churchill quote wrong both times”.

A third commented: "The fact that only question English can come up with is “Whats the best one” and he hits him with Churchill man."

While a fourth said: "We all thought he was going to tell us what it meant, but then he just said the same thing."

Jordan, who is proud of having come from Traveller stock, is about to set off on a 15-date tour of the UK, having started rapping as part of a rehabilitation course while he was in HMP Nottingham.

He says there’s a lot of prejudice against Traveller folk, which he has worked hard to overcome. “It's a very one-sided British mentality,” he claimed, adding that he and his sisters were never scruffy, because his mum was determined that they looked their best.

“My mum would buy the girls the best clothes… we never struggled for nothing no matter what. If my mum had to go out and rob it or we had to go with her and rob it we got it. When the new pair of trainers that came out , or a new computer …and my mum would always buy the girls gold."
