Met Office issues urgent snow alert for regions as polar blast hours away

UK weather: Cold temperatures but beautiful blue skies

The UK has been warned to expect plunging temperatures in a matter of days as a new yellow cold weather alert has been issued.

The Met Office and the Government’s UK Health Standards Agency has placed four regions under these warnings – with impacts of an icy mercury, and potentially snow, affecting the most vulnerable.

The alert was issued today – but focuses more on the turn of conditions on Friday, where it’s expected that a widespread frost will hail the beginning of a snowy period for areas of northern England and Scotland.
