Speed camera catches dog behind wheel of moving car as driver fined

While dogs are renowned for providing human beings with a relentless source of joy, it’s ill-advised to let them drive your car, as a driver in Slovakia found out.

Despite our cuddly friends being capable of many things, passing a driving examination is not one of them. Therefore, it goes without saying that it’s illegal to let them behind the wheel.

However, this law is seldom put into practice, as it’s very much a rarity that this event occurs in the first place. But in the quiet village of Sterusy, just north-east of the capital, Bratislava, a speed camera caught a hound in the act.

Upon discovering the image of the happy fellow driving the speeding vehicle, the police were rendered speechless.

Ultimately, not knowing quite what to make of the whole situation, they opted to make light of the dog's actions, posting an amusing statement on Facebook.

The police said: “Mr. Dog, you are overspeeding in the village. Your driving certificates…”

After a quick search, authorities tracked down the rogue animal's owner and subsequently fined him. However, he had a fascinating explanation as to how his pet ended up driving at 84MPH.

The man claimed that his friendly brown hunting dog leapt across the seat and into his lap at the optimum moment to have his picture taken. But while some would find the idea of this endearing, ultimately, it appears that this wasn't the case, as the footage indicated that there was no sudden movement in the moments prior to the epic shot being taken.

Having accumulated a whopping 7.1k reactions, the world has taken to the mischievous dog.

One person said: "Chill, he wanted to switch the song," perhaps to 'Who Let The Dogs Out'.

Another, fearing the same thing could happen to him, claimed he'll make sure his dog: "Doesn't forget his documents."

In a complete juxtaposition to the law, one individual suggested that the dog deserves praise for his antics, saying: "Actually, Hunting dogs are very good drivers, better than a lot of people I know.”

Regardless of the amusing aspect of the case, police want to remind people: "Even a small animal can endanger your life and health while driving."
